2 days per week - February to December 2018 | Bromley | 2 days a week | £40,000 - £50,000 (full time equivalent)

This local Trust is looking to make a senior appointment who will, with the Chief Executive Officer, establish the central leadership of the Trust. This recruitment process is for the role of Chief Financial Officer.

To commence as soon as possible, the role will be a part time (two days per week) appointment for a fixed term until the end of December 2018.

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer/Accounting Officer (CEO/AO)

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the Trust’s financial planning and compliance and act as its appointed Chief Financial Officer
  • Support the CEO in resourcing the efficient and economic delivery of education
  • Support the CEO to establish the systems and development of the Trust’s financial organisation and management
  • Be a member of the Trust’s management team
  • Oversee the provision of financial services to the constituent schools.
As Chief Financial Officer of the Trust
  • Fulfil the statutory and regulatory responsibilities as set out in the Financial Handbook instruction from the Education & Skills Funding Agency.
  • Support the Accounting Officer in ensuring the propriety and regularity of public finances in the Trust’s charge.
  • Assess, develop and monitor the Trust’s internal and external financial reporting.
  • Report to the CEO/AO and the Trustees on the Trust’s financial governance, risk management, financial performance and development.
The successful candidate will demonstrate clear evidence of
  • Proven operational experience of financial management including audit and risk with appropriate qualifications.
  • Ability to formulate and give constructive independent advice to a range of stakeholders.
  • Proactive management of and communication with staff, senior managers, Boards, third party interests and other stakeholders.
  • Understanding and experience of education and its delivery.
  • Willingness and aptitude to oversee a range of non‐educational responsibilities including budgets, employment, governance and risk.
  • Ability to work with multiple clients and colleagues with different needs and requirements.
  • Proven track record of innovation, driving and managing change.
  • Ability to improve effectiveness and efficiency through evolution rather than revolution.
