Biggin Hill |8am-4pm (some flexibility on hours)| Monday to Friday | £20,234 - £20,779 pro rata (pa depending on experience) | Start September 2018

This lovely local school based in Biggin Hill are looking for two Administration Secretaries for their busy school office.

The successful candidate will provide a typing and administration service which contributes to the delivery of the curriculum and general administration of the school. You will also provide admin support for whole school detentions as well as secretarial support to the school’s SENCO.

The successful candidate will be required to plan, design and produce a wide range of school publications and will also design and produce weekly Bulletins for staff and parents. Other duties include collating targets and mid-year reviews for the teaching staff appraisal system and the administrative procedures for the annual Celebration of Success assemblies which take place at the end of the school year. Experience of Microsoft office and Publisher is essential, a working knowledge of SIMS would be advantageous.

It is essential that you have good general secretarial skills with recent office experience and an excellent standard of English. Previous experience of a similar role in a school would be advantageous.

The Admin Office consists of one full time Receptionist and four Administration Secretaries and is overseen by the school’s Personnel and Administration Manager. The Admin Office is extremely busy and the ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines is essential.

You will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. Post holders will be required to work 40 weeks per year (pupil days plus 7 days in school closure).

The standard working day is 08.00 – 16.00 Monday to Friday. Due to two posts being available there is some flexibility with regard to hours and specific duties. It is envisaged that Post 1 will be in the range of 25-30 hours a week and Post 2 in the range of 30 – 36 hours a week.

Please note that holidays during term time are not permitted.

The Person:
  • Have good general secretarial and administrative skills with recent office experience
  • Have good IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (and Publisher for Post 1)
  • A working knowledge of SIMS, or equivalent school management system would be advantageous
  • Have effective oral and written communication skills with a good standard of English
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be honest and trustworthy
  • Be able to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Have the ability to communicate with children and members of staff clearly and accurately
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team or alone as necessary
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Have common sense and initiative
  • To be aware of confidentiality guidelines
  • To have knowledge of child protection issues and when it is important to pass on information
