Snow fails to put the freeze on our Croydon mums!

Snow fails to put the freeze on our Croydon mums! The Beast from the East proved no match for our Successful Mums last week, as we held our first-ever workshop for Croydon parents at IKEA’S famous Purley Way store.

More than 50 women braved the elements to attend the free workshop, which combined our popular Business Start-Up and Back To Work Taster sessions and offered advice, practical tips and support to budding businesswomen and mums taking their first steps back into work.

In a lively session, Successful Mums founder Jane Knight tackled some of our Croydon parents’ most pressing concerns, from how to boost your confidence and be more focused in your job search, to finding out where all the flexible jobs are hiding and turning business dreams into reality.

Local employer Ikea, well known for its family-friendly policies, was a great host on the day and we’re thrilled that they have joined our fantastic network of employers - Jane Knight
Successful Mums has already helped more than 3,500 women find flexible, family-friendly jobs, change careers or start their own brilliant businesses, and we loved meeting all the motivated mums at our first Croydon event.

The session was held in partnership with Croydon Council, which is committed to supporting parents in the workplace, and we were delighted to be joined by Kate Ambrosi, their Head of Economic Development.

Kate told us: “It’s great to be working with Successful Mums to support Croydon mums and the wider community to return to work or launch their own businesses. Employment and enterprise is thriving in Croydon, so there’s no better time to seek support to find work or get started in business.”

It might have been snowing outside but our Successful Mums’ kind words kept us warm after the workshop. Attendee Rhapsody, who described the session as “inspiring”, said she was leaving with the feeling “that nothing’s impossible”. Rebecca, meanwhile, found it “informative, enjoyable and motivating” and felt “encouraged that I’m not ‘just a mum’”. She added: “Thank you for an engaging and inspiring session … it has given me the impetus to knuckle down and get going!”

We’d love to hear what you think, too. We have more Taster sessions coming up in Bromley and Hayes (evening workshop), so book your free place today and kick-start your very own Successful Mums adventure.
