Faye - A career in counselling
Since school, Faye had worked in various office roles picking up lots of valuable skills. However, she always wanted to work with, and help, young people in some way. After attending coaching sessions, we soon identified that Faye had good listening skills and was able to connect with young people and build rapport.
We then looked at various careers options before Faye chose to pursue a counselling course. She identified a few barriers, including not having the required GCSEs, however after attending a one year access course at college, Faye enrolled on a three year counselling degree at Greenwich University. She now works as a youth counsellor managing a small team.
Faye says “I would encourage anyone who has a career idea to speak to Jane for sound advice, then take steps to turn that advice into action. The four years in training went really quickly and I’m now doing a job that I love that suits my lifestyle.”
“I now realise how many different roles and choices we have for flexible working.”
