Mum No.2 Naoko Wood

Mum No.2 Naoko Wood

Naoko Wood attended the Business Start-up course in 2015 with a view to starting a jewellery design & retail business.  Naoko met a business partner, Clare, and has successfully set-up Rock me Kids.

What have you achieved in 2016?

2016 was a big year for Clare and I as we decided to focus on children’s accessories, completed the website and officially launched Rock me Kids in June. We have achieved most of the goals we set for 2016 including managing to wholesale into quite a few additional shops in the area, getting listings in several selective online children’s directories, as well as participating in several Christmas fairs throughout London and Kent.  Rock me Kids was mentioned in the Christmas edit for the South East London Journal which we were pleased about.

How have you achieved this?
We achieved this by hard work and dedication. We had set ourselves targets and we were organised, split our jobs and responsibilities so that we could be more effective in the time that we had but still managing to keep each other involved. It is really hard to juggle so many balls with our children and day to day things, as well as Rock me Kids but we have done pretty well. Big thank you to Successful Mums for their business course, this really helped.

What does 2017 hold?
We would like to expand our product range. We would also like to work on establishing our brand better and broadening our wholesale and online reach. As both Clare and I have lots of contacts internationally, we are even thinking about attempting some outlets outside of UK!

Festive Traditions...
Clare’s favourite song is 'O, Little Town of Bethlehem' as she sang it as a solo in school when she was little. Mine is 'White Christmas' by Bing Crosby. It probably seems strange but our family tradition as a Japanese family was to have futomaki sushi rolls as well as the turkey for Christmas.

We are so busy running around all the time that both Clare and I are really looking forward to spending some family time with our children and husbands.
