this term was packed full of activities for our women returners!

Here’s a little bit of what we’ve been up to…

We kicked off September by supporting 30 women on our Back to Work and Digital Skills courses.

The six-week, school-friendly programme involves CV support, identifying the transferable skills from being a parent along with confidence, personal branding and digital skills. This equips these women returners for the journey back into work.

Inspirational Woman Nomination

I was very flattered to be nominated for an Inspirational Woman award by Apprenticeship 4 England. This was linked to the recent Women’s Conference run by the fabulous Lindsay McCurdy in Coventry.

It was fantastic to see so many people in the training industry come together to celebrate skills and hear so many inspirational individuals share their career journey.

You can read more about this brilliant event written by Susanna Lawson from OneFile, HERE

Mental Health

We now include a Managing Mental Health and Wellbeing Certificate into all our training. Mental health is key and research shows that women, after having children are more likely to be affected by mental health issues.

This accredited award has already had a positive impact with one of our returners. Tracy said,

“I hadn’t considered learning about mental health before, it was good to have such a discussion and make some small changes in my life that, have already had a positive impact on my stress and how I feel about myself.”

Charity

It’s been a busy month for our Charity events! I managed to book not one but three events, including the Beckenham Half Marathon, the Chislehurst Chase and the Spinathon at Virgin Active raising funds for Cancer Research, Evelina, Mind and Pancreatic Cancer UK. A big thank you to everyone that sponsored us and joined in!

Shout outs

A shout out recognises individuals or organisations that have gone above and beyond to support Successful Mums

Employer, Make Me Local, a Bromley Website company, who has taken on two of our Successful Mums and not looked back! You can find out more about the great work Nathan and the team do HERE.

Partner, Clarion Housing, a fantastic housing association that does so much for their tenants and the local community. We work closely with Erica Watts and the team in Bromley and will be working across other areas in 2020.
