More than 120 local mums recently came together for an inspiring “Find a Job You Love” event hosted by Successful Mums Career Academy in partnership with Amazon.
The aim? To help women returning to work, changing careers or starting something new to rediscover their confidence – and to show how forward-thinking employers can play a key role in supporting women back into meaningful employment.
Held at Amazon’s headquarters in Shoreditch, the event welcomed women from all backgrounds, from experienced project managers and retail professionals to those exploring brand-new business ideas. What united them was a shared goal, to reignite their careers and create a better balance between work and family life.
Founder Jane Knight opened the session with an empowering talk about the incredible transferable skills gained through parenting from leadership and problem-solving to empathy and creativity – all of which employers really value.
“People often assume mums just bounce back into work after having a baby,” said Jane. “But confidence can take a knock and direction can be lost. That’s where we come in – connecting skilled women with supportive employers. By combining practical advice, accredited training and encouragement, we help women get back on track. Working with forward-thinking partners like Amazon makes all the difference.”
The day featured practical CV support and career insight sessions from Amazon’s own team, including Matt and Lesley, who shared their personal experiences of balancing family life with career success.
“The event exceeded expectations,” said Matt Lloyd from Amazon. “With over 120 skilled women in the room, it was a fantastic turnout. It’s been great working with Jane and the Successful Mums team to access such a talented and motivated pool of women returners.”
Attendee Mayowa summed it up perfectly:

The atmosphere throughout the day was positive and uplifting, a perfect mix of inspiration, energy and hands-on support. Amazon staff volunteered alongside the Successful Mums team and the Department for Work and Pensions, creating a genuine sense of collaboration and community.
By the end of the day, participants didn’t just leave with stronger CVs, they left with clarity, confidence and a renewed sense of purpose.
