Fundraising Assistant

We are entering an important stage in the development of our fundraising. Trusts and foundations currently provide much of our income, and we now want to build a broader and more sustainable supporter base. This will include creating more opportunities for individuals, community groups and local businesses to contribute to our work. The Fundraising Assistant will play a key part in helping us strengthen existing relationships, reach new supporters and deliver an excellent experience for everyone who chooses to support Sutton Vision.

Essential

• Empathy with our client group and our mission
• Willingness to follow the Code of Conduct
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt information for different audiences and channels
• Experience of office administration, customer service, supporter care or a similar role, including confidence with all Microsoft 365 programmes
• Strong organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Confidence researching information, identifying opportunities and building positive relationships with a range of people
• Confidence with learning and using digital systems
• Curious, creative and proactive, with a willingness to learn, use initiative, work collaboratively and ask for support when needed.

Desirable

• An understanding of the issues facing people living with sight loss
• Experience of working in a charity, ideally as part of a fundraising team
• Experience creating accessible digital or printed content
• Familiarity with CRMs such as Donorfy, and digital tools such as Canva, WordPress, social media, Google Analytics etc
• An understanding of data protection and confidentiality
• Digital content creation
• An interest in developing a career in fundraising.

We provide practical, personalised information, advice and support so that people can make informed choices, maintain their independence and stay connected to their community. Our support includes help to understand treatment options, employment and benefits advice, assistance with forms and technical aids, and a varied programme of accessible social activities that help reduce isolation.
