Description

We have a 3-month vacancy for a Volunteer to join our friendly team and work out of our flagship Epsom & Ewell Employment and Skills Hub based in Epsom, next to The Ashley Centre in Global House.  We are looking for a creative individual who likes working in a team to deliver our projects and who will work closely with our Recruitment and Engagement Adviser.

This is a volunteer position where the incumbent is working 120 hours overall to gain work experience.   Working hours are flexible bearing in mind that individuals are studying or who have children to care for.  A reference will be supplied upon completion of the term.

The Volunteer will gain valuable experience working with a Charity and in the public sector by working with experienced staff who come from diverse backgrounds.  In this case, we would be looking for local UK residents to apply for this role.

Main Duties & Accountabilities

  • The candidate would work with social media marketing and create content for our website to generate leads and market the services of the Hub. The Hub uses Canva to generate content and we work with Social Champ to manage our posts.
  • We work with businesses to promote vacancies for our Jobs Fairs which are held every 8 weeks, and we are engaging with businesses to arrange Career Days. The incumbent would be required to play a supportive role and assist where necessary.
  • Digital Skills is an area we are exploring, and we are looking at including Virtual Reality Sessions in the Hub.
  • Assist the Recruitment & Engagement Adviser in arranging job fairs with the DWP every 8 weeks by recruiting employers.

Skills Required

Essential:

  • Social media expertise and working with the Hub to promote content via our channels which include the Epsom & Ewell Hub website, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • The individual must be a team player and collaborator and be able to work with management and the office on projects that impact the performance of the team and the overall image of the Hub.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to maintain accurate records and meet regular reporting deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills and networking abilities.

About Us

The Epsom & Ewell Employment and Skills Hub is funded by the Epsom & Ewell Borough Council to help more individuals gain skills and support to get them back into work.  Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership is a charity that has been appointed to coordinate and run the activities in the Hub and to assist individuals with employability advice who are 18 years and older.
