Salary: £13.15 per hour LLW               Hours:  7 hours per week, of which 3.5 hrs Wednesday mornings

Starting as a 6-month role.

Job Summary

As a Community Gardener, you will be supporting our lead gardener in the development and maintenance of community gardens across Woolwich Common estate.

This will include supporting volunteers and residents to participate in community gardening as well supporting events that take place at the gardens.

 

Job Description

  • Garden Maintenance which will include rubbish removal, weeding, planting, sowing, strimming and cutting.
  • Supporting community activities like open days, talks, visits and gardening sessions.
  • Helping to deliver activities which appeal to a wide range of people from the community to increase involvement and participation in growing & gardening.
  • Promote growing & food growing to Woolwich Common residents, community groups to increase volunteering opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new projects across Woolwich Common Estates.
  • Support positive relationships with a range of people, including residents, community leaders, local groups and organisations to support involvement in garden sites and in growing activities.
  • Assist with social media and promotion of the sites as requested.

  • To ensure you respond efficiently and appropriately to all enquires and requests.
  • This applies to GCDA’s customers, suppliers, programme users and colleagues.
