After 4 years of caring for her son, Claire lacked confidence and struggled to find work that would fit around family life. Claire’s confidence was at an all-time low and she felt she didn’t have current work experience to secure the job she was wanted. With our 1 to 1 support Claire was able to build her confidence and secure a part-time job!

What did you want to achieve from the course?

I wanted to update my cv, gain more confidence, find more local and flexible work. I also wanted to connect with like-minded parents and improve on my interview skills.

How would you describe the content of the course?

When applying for jobs my coach would help me with interview prep and with my CV. She would then check in with me after interviews to review and see what areas I needed to improve on. We would also have regular sessions to support me in working towards my goals. She really helped with cv writing, interview skills, confidence building and motivation. I also received much-needed advice on finding flexible roles.

How did you connect with other mums on the course?

I was invited to join group zoom calls with the other like-minded mums we worked on a small project together to help each other find suitable work. This project helped me improve my confidence, collaboration skills, digital and communication skills. Also, we had weekly emails and had a WhatsApp group we could share useful information, from local jobs, motivational messages of support, to recommendations of useful webinars, resources and local employers. It was great!

What have you learnt from doing a Successful Mums course?

I have learned to be more confident applying for jobs and going to interviews. Not to be so hard on myself and to believe in my skills and abilities. I gained so many valuable new skills that I could put into practice such as cv writing and communication skills.

How did your job search go?

I was able to secure a new role as a midday supervisor in a local school. After only being there a short while, the school asked me to help in the office with admin work and to look after a boy with SEN. My favourite part of my job is working with the children as I find it rewarding.

What difference has attending this course made to your life?

This course has made me realise that I’m not on my own and there are people out there who want to help. Some people don’t realise how hard it is to find work when being a parent and trying to juggle both parenting and a career. It was a breath of fresh air to have a company that is tailored towards mums, that understands your situation and can work with you towards your goals.
