After applying for hundreds of jobs, Garima didn’t give up, it spurred her on to find out why she was getting rejected. Turning to Successful Mums for advice, she was not disappointed with the outcome of her first interview!

Hi, I am Garima, mum of two adorable boys, living in Worcester Park in Sutton. We moved to London in 2017 from India, where I completed my Masters in Accountancy (Finance). At that time my eldest was 2 years old, he took some time settling in a new country so I held off my job search, although I kept looking on and off as I knew I wanted to return to work one day.
What with Covid and giving birth to my second child, my few years career-break, became 8 years! However, I never stopped learning during those 8 years, it was always clear in my head that one day I would relaunch myself and prove that this gap is not a full stop but just a comma in my career journey!
I was applying for hundreds of jobs a day and all I was getting was rejection emails. This is when I decided to find out more about the Successful Mums Back to Work course to try and understand where I was going wrong and find out why I was not getting selected. I wanted to know the shortcomings in my CV and if I was doing something wrong while applying for jobs. The course was also free, so I just applied without giving a second thought as there was nothing to lose.
With little confidence and lots of hope, I enrolled on the course. It was great, it definitely made me more focused on my goal and kept me motivated throughout. I also met so many wonderful people and got to know their struggles as well as success stories which gave me a confidence boost.

With help from my Career Coach, I got my first interview call for a job published on Successful Mums Job Board, I cleared that interview too! Unfortunately, that role was paused for a few months due to some change in the company’s plan, but I was not disappointed as being successful in my first interview gave me immense confidence to face more roles going forward.
I secured a 2-3 months contract job working at Loreal as an assistant to Marketing Controllers, and I am learning new things every day. Loreal trusted me and gave me this opportunity that I had desperately been waiting for, I am so grateful for this. I’m a quick learner and confident I can make my way upward and make this my first step in relaunching my career journey.
If you are looking to go back to work after a career break, this should definitely be your first step to relaunch your journey. The Successful Mums Course will make you ‘job ready’ for the market.
