Successful Mum client Karen Jones tells us her story…

What is the name of your business?

Mad Mothers Bootcamp. I teach boot camp exercise to mothers to use exercise as a fitness tool and way of life. Since starting the Successful Mums training I have also started my career as a motivational speaker.

What inspired you to start my own business?

I already worked for a Bootcamp company but wanted to take up the challenge of being my own boss and owning my own Bootcamp. I also wanted to share my story and help other women fulfil their dreams which I can now do through my speaking.

How did Successful Mums help you?

The Business Start-up training gave me clarity and confidence to go it alone. I wasn’t sure where to start and which order to do things in. Successful Mums provided a framework to know what to do first. I love the way Jane delivers the training, it’s so informative and motivating.

What challenges did I face when first starting up?

Getting and keeping clients.

What does personal success mean to you?

It means freedom to do what I love and live the life I’ve always wanted to live. I’ve wanted a career since I was 16 years old. I’ve waited a long time to fulfil my dream but it’s so worth it.

What is the most challenging thing working for yourself?

Being strict with time. It’s easy to get waylaid you have to remain focused and not be distracted by sparkly things.

What is the most rewarding thing about working for yourself?

Getting to work with and helping awesome women get and keep fit. To pass on my knowledge and empower women and mothers like me with exercise.

What helpful tips do you have for other mums starting up their own business?

Be patient. Take one small step at a time. Believe in yourself
Be productive; the right people and situations will come to you.
