Maninder ups her game with Successful Mums

When the time came to expand her digital marketing business, Maninder Kaur turned to Successful Mums to help her take the next steps. Here, the Facebook advertising expert explains how our Business Start-up Diploma helped power up her business and her confidence.
“I’ve worked in digital marketing for 15 years and went freelance after my twin girls were born, as I wanted flexibility and the freedom to be more creative. With the girls starting school this year, it was the ideal time to put more energy into my business, make it more robust and take it up a level.
As a digital marketing and Facebook ads strategist, I help businesses grow their brands through social advertising. I wanted to expand my services and gain new clients but felt I needed a push to get going.
I’d heard about the ‘Start Your Own Business‘ Taster Session that Successful Mums was running in partnership with Mummy’s Gin Fund, I went along, it was great to meet other women in a similar position to me and to bounce ideas off each other. We decided, there, to book on to the Business Diploma Couse!
“The Business Start-up course got me into the right mindset and gave me the structure and momentum I needed. It helped me see how even small changes, like getting into a good morning routine, can make a huge difference to my productivity.“

The Business Start-up course got me into the right mindset and gave me the structure and momentum I needed. It helped me see how even small changes, like getting into a good morning routine, can make a huge difference to my productivity.
It got me out of my comfort zone and made me push myself. One of the things I had to do was stand up in front of the group and deliver a pitch about my business. Realising that people wanted to listen and that they really valued the services I offer was very reassuring and great motivation.
I’ve since given my first Facebook advertising workshop, which was a really big thing for me. I’d never thought public speaking was something that came naturally to me but the course gave me the confidence to do it. I’m planning more workshops and am now also offering one-to-one video training and troubleshooting sessions, so that’s a real step forward.
The group was very supportive, very nurturing. At the start, I thought I was the only one dealing with problems like confidence or fitting work around the school run. But we were all dealing with the same things and we all exchanged knowledge and ideas. That was probably the best part and it definitely made me feel less alone.
I’m now starting to build my network, so my next steps are to reach out to potential clients and reconnect with old colleagues and contacts. I still want a good work-life balance, so I’m looking to build relationships with a few new clients and go from there.
I strongly believe we should appreciate all our little victories. Right now, if I can do the school run, come home and then be productive in my business for the whole day, then that’s my idea of success. I love waking up every day and knowing I’ll be doing something that is just for “me” – it’s very exciting.”
