A business double act for Successful Mum Trina

Never one to do things by halves, Hayes mum Trina has started not one but two businesses with the help of Successful Mums.

Hayes Mum, Trina

“I set up my virtual PA business after leaving my job as an executive assistant to settle my son into primary school. It was something I’d been considering for a while, as I wanted to spend more time with my family but I also wanted to use my brain. The Successful Mums Business Start-up course came along at just the right time.

The course gave me a lot of practical help with things like writing a business plan and social media, which was incredibly useful, and there were some amazing guest speakers. Even just meeting other local mums who were doing the same thing was inspirational.

I was also about to qualify as a personal trainer at that point and one of the guest speakers was Karen Jones (who had attended the previous course) a Successful Mum herself, Karen had started her own boot camp business with Jane’s help. She was so inspiring, so Jane put me in touch with her and she has since become a mentor (Jane is very good at connecting people). I’m now slowly building up my personal training work alongside my virtual PA business.

I’m all for women supporting women, which is what Successful Mums is all about. I’ll always help mums and put business their way when I can because I know how hard we work. I recently caught up with the group from my course on Facebook and, one year on, almost everyone is where they wanted to be, which is fantastic. As a business owner, I’ll always look to these women for services rather than go elsewhere.

Running your own business is 24/7 but I love it! As a virtual PA, my job is to give people their precious time back. Whether it’s household admin, booking a holiday, writing reports or bookkeeping, I step in and take the hassle out of people’s lives.

My biggest challenge is time and being ruled by the school run – it’s tough. Having said that, I’m now able to give my children more of my time when they need it, so it’s definitely the biggest benefit, too.

I’m doing something I’m really passionate about, I’m helping other people and that’s really important to me. It’s great that I can show my children that you can be what you want to be. I’m doing that through hard work and I think they’re really benefitting from that, too”.
