As we came out of lockdown Jolanda realised she had lost her confidence and had been distracted from her art business, she knew she needed to start reinvesting in it to move it forward. With a little help from Successful Mums, Jolanda has taken her business to the next level and is full of inspiration and new ideas..

My name is Jolanda, I am Swiss and have a diverse background having lived in many different countries such as China, Belgium and others. I have 2 children and live in Wandsworth. I have previously worked in the art institute, the embassy and non-government organisations.
I founded my company, Exceptional Art & Design in 2015. I have always had a longstanding passion for the arts, and having learnt the craft (including etching and life-drawing in Paris) I accumulated a vast knowledge of artworks over the years, including artists and styles covering all periods from old to contemporary.
During the lockdown, I felt that I had lost my confidence and had not invested in my business, I needed to reflect on my aims and objectives to move it forward. But I wasn’t sure where to start. I had seen the Successful Mums Course advertised online. It seemed to tick all the boxes and felt it would provide me with all the skills and knowledge to take my business to the next level, so decided to enroll.
“This course has given me my confidence back and has also shown me that there is a place for me in the art world. It showed me how to be successful and resilient when faced with challenges and has given me a good structure of how to prioritise my business ideas.”
Jolanda
My experience of the course was very positive. The content was applicable and I could apply it to my business. My trainer was very motivating, and supportive, she gave constructive feedback and I had a clearer understanding of my aims and objectives.
This course has given me my confidence back and has also shown me that there is a place for me in the art world. It showed me how to be successful and resilient when faced with challenges and has given me a good structure of how to prioritise my business ideas.
In addition, the course has helped me with my marketing plan and provided me with different ideas to help grow and promote my business. I have also met like-minded people who have inspired and motivated me along the way.
Let me tell you a little bit about my business and the ideas I now have for the future. Exceptional Art & Design offers specialised introductions to the art world, in galleries, museums or private houses, from old and contemporary, it engages audiences, whether children, teenagers or adults.
I advise clients who are looking to acquire artworks or crafts, including large-scale bespoke art commissions. I guide them to create and find, with their taste and expectations in mind, the best art within a given space, whether public or private, indoor or outdoor.
At this crossroads of my business, I would like to develop more opportunities for modern site-specific art commissions, using mosaic, murals, wallpaper or stained glass as a medium, considering both outdoor and indoor spaces.
Art and mental health is a subject very close to my heart. I am interested in a collaboration that will help women and young adults regain their confidence and joy with art after big changes or trauma that may have affected their lives.
I am looking to develop concierge services that broker and give advice on the best framers, pictures hangers, interior designers and architects to help my clients fulfill their interior design dreams.
I would also like to offer advice on de-cluttering old art collections, sorting out the art that needs looking after and suggesting a curated re-hang within a space.
I’m motivated and inspired with so many ideas! Thank you to Jane and all the team at Successful Mums.
